American with Disabilities Act: noun; Prohibits the discrimination against people with disabilities within employment, housing, transportation, etc.
Bias: noun; prejudice against or for a particular individual or group; considered unfairness
Class: System of ordering categorizing people into sets based on perception of economic or social status.
Cultural competence: phrase; the ability to understand, interact, and appreciate people from other cultures different from one's own culture
Culture: noun; The customs, arts, and other manifestations and achievements of a particular people or social group.
Disability: noun; A physical or mental condition that limits a person's motion, sensation, or activity.
Diversity: The practice of involving people with a variety of different races, backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, etc.
Ethnicity: noun; The state of belonging to a social group based upon national or cultural tradition.
Gender Expression: phrase; The way a person expresses their gender through dress, appearance, and behavior.
Inclusion: noun; The act of providing equal access to all, especially those who may otherwise be excluded.
Indigenous: adjective; Originating or occurring naturally in a particular region or environment.
Legality: noun; the state of being in accordance with the law
Meritocracy: noun; A society governed by a ruling class or influential group of people
Minority: noun; A culturally, ethnically, or racially distinct group that is subordinate to a dominant group.
Prejudice: noun; preconceived like or dislike that is not based on reason
Privilege: noun; A special right granted to a specific person or group that is not available to everyone.
Race: noun; a person's physical attributes
Racism: noun; The belief that different races have specific characteristics or qualities that distinguish them as superior or inferior to other races.
Religion: noun; The belief in and worshiping of a higher power; usually a God or gods.
Sex: noun; The state of being male or female based on physiological characteristics; usually assigned at birth.
Social Justice: noun; Belief that everyone deserves equal wealth distribution, political and social rights and opportunities.
Socioeconomic status: noun; The position of an individual or group within society based on economic and social status.
Stereotypes: noun; An image or idea of a particular group that is widely viewed.
System of Oppression: Discriminatory institutions and structures embedded in society that place unequal treatment on a specific identity group.
Tolerance: noun; the ability or willingness to endure something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with
